His look The Norwegian cat is tall, with a long body and firmly constructed. He is high on legs with the substantial frame bone structure, those of the back being slightly higher than to the front one. The tail, thick at the base, must be as long as the body of the cat. Turned towards the head, it must reach the base of the neck. It is very bushy and Norwegian likes to curry it to the vertical when he moves. Its neck is sufficiently long and quite muscular, the head of Norwegian has the shape of an equilateral triangle, and presents a profile long right, without break, with the top of the slightly round head. The chin must be strong and not fleeing. The ears accentuate its triangular form by prolonging it on the two sides of the face which are plane without pinch. They are high, broad at the base, opened well and embellish with hairs towards inside as at the end where the plumes like the lynx ones are required. The eyes of Norwegian large, quite opened are placed slightly in oblique. They have an waked up expression. The fur of Norwegian is of mid-length type, the hair is longer on the back, on the tail, in the back of the thighs where it forms britches around the neck where it forms a flange and a jabot. It is dual : the undercoat is very provided and woolly, the hair of cover is smooth and rainproof. Water penetrates very difficulty inside this fur which is used as ideal weather proofing. Norwegian thus tolerates very well very low temperatures and can live outside all the year without risk. On the contrary the heat of the radiators does not support the upholding of a developed fur. All the colors are allowed except the Siamese pattern and the colors chocolate, lilac, cinnamon and fawn. One thus finds Norwegian unicoloured (black, white, blue, russet-red, cream), two-coloured (these same colors well assorted with all quantities of white) of the ''scale of turtle'' (black/ russet-red and blue/ cream ) with or without white, of the ''silver tabby'' and the ''smoke'' (silver not tabby) with or without white. And all these colors can adorn a striped, marbled or dappled pattern. The color amber was recognized by the LOOF on March 12th, 2009. All the colors of the eyes are accepted, whatever the color of the fur.
